Want your TASCAM DR-40X to begin recording when it receives an audio signal, without having to get your hands on it? Simply engage Auto Recording mode. You’ll be able to set a threshold at which point it will begin recording — once its microphones or audio inputs sense an audio signal above that threshold, recording will begin.

Built-in mics, plus inputs for your mics and instruments
Simply use the built-in condenser microphones to capture a studio-quality stereo recording. Its XLR mic inputs with phantom power allow you to use your own mics too, or in conjunction with the built-in mics for four-track recording. You can even plug your guitar or bass directly into the TASCAM DR-40X.
